When are updates carried out?

Can I add my telephone number as an additional contact information?

Adding a telephone number ist not possible even though the settings might provide a text box. Services to send text messages (SMS) to cell phones mean additional costs.

What is the maximum upload size?

The maximum file upload size is 250MB per file.

Can I delete my mail address provided during registration?

Yes. After you have successfully completed the registration process you can remove the mail address from the settings tab.

Click on the rounded profile picture in the top left corner, click on "All settings". On the "General" tab you can find your mail address and a button to remove it.

Please keep in mind by removing the mail address you not be able to restare your account in case you lost your password. The support will not be able to verify you!

How do I assign an email address?

In the settings of Element you can assign a valid email address to your personal account. After assigning the address you will received a validation mail with a like you'll have to open. 

1. In the top left corner click on your profile picture and then on "All settings".
2. Under "Account" you'll find the section "Personal info" and "Email addresses".
3. In the textbox "Email Address" insert your email address and hit "Add".
   

   

   
   
4. You should be receiving a mail with a link which you have to open to validate your email address.

Now you have successfully assigned an email address to your account.

Rooms

How do I configure room retention?

1. Go to the settings of a room or click the three dots for a room in the navigation on the left side
2. Go to "Developer tools" or type "/devtools" into the chat message textbox
   

   

3. Click on "Explore room status" and click on "Send custom state event" in the bottom right corner
   

   

4. Put the following values into the text boxes

   Info: The value 604800000 is in milliseconds. Use this calculator to get the correct value.
   You can set that value to a maximum of 1 year (31536000000) and to a minimum of 1 day (86400000). "Maximum" means that messages will be deleted after this maximum limit has been reached. "Minimum" means that no message younger than this limit will be deleted within this period.
   The purge job will run once a day.

Why are bridges unverified in the session overview?

Sessions to bridges appear as unverified due to the bot account which is not being maintained / used by real persons. Don't worry, the bridges are all fine to use.
